The Transition Team
Two Obama-Biden advisors have been given responsibility for serving as team leaders for review of the O.N.D.C.P. and
the nation's drug policy. They are:
Christopher Putala, M.P.P. who is a consultant in Washington, D.C. He served as senior staff on the Senate
Judiciary Committee for Chairman Joseph R. Biden, Jr. from 1989 to 1998. From 1999 to 2004 he was Vice President for Congressional
Relations at the Cellular Telecom and Internet Association. He established his consulting firm, Pulaski Strategies, in 2004.
He served as Executive Vice President for Public Policy at EarthLink, an Internet service provider, from 2005 to 2007.
Donald Vereen, Jr., M.D., M.P.H. who is the Director of Community Based Public Health at the University
of Michigan School of Public Health. He was formerly with the Natioanl Institutes of Health, where he developed extra- and
intergovernmental collaborations to address drug abuse, addiction, mental illness, and violence. He also helped develop translational
and clinical research efforts at NIH to address health disparities and the transfer of research findings to practitioners
and the public. From 1998 to 2001, he served as Deputy Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
